This species, sometimes confused with Armadillidium vulgare, is recognizable by its characteristic small “nose” as well as its more elongated telons. It generally prefers a drier habitat than many other isopods, which allows it to adapt to semi-arid terrariums, provided a humid area is maintained.
In nature, Armadillidium nasatum seems to appreciate more open and vegetated environments than dense undergrowth, as well as relatively bright areas (above 4000 lux according to some studies).
This species is also described as synanthropic, that is to say capable of adapting to environments modified by humans, such as gardens, greenhouses or urban areas.
They accept different food sources: fish flakes, spirulina, decomposing white wood, vegetables, etc. Like all isopods, they must have permanent access to a source of calcium as well as dead leaves, essential to their diet.
